One of the most common orthopedic problems in the knees is meniscus tears. Meniscus tear can occur not only in sports but also in housewives. However, the treatment of every meniscus tear is not surgical.

There are many different types and they cause different clinical pictures, especially in the elderly, almost everyone has tears in their meniscus due to abrasion.

In the first stage, painful and swelling conditions in the knee may occur that restricts the movements. Most of the time, these problems can be healed with non-surgical methods.

However, it is inevitable to have an operation when daily life is blocked in cases that cause snagging and locking in the knee.

It is possible to solve the problems by opening 2-3 holes in the knee, called the arthroscopic method, and by seeing them on a screen with the devices inserted from here, and patients can return to their normal lives within 2-3 weeks.

Since meniscus tears are often impossible to heal, they are treated by removing the torn part, thus disrupting the relationship of the treated joint.

The menisci are a cartilage structure that acts as a cushion between the articular surfaces of the two large bones that make up the knee joint, and they act as a cushion that relieves the load on the articular surfaces of the bones.

In this case, the wear on the cartilages forming the joint surfaces of the bones will increase and calcification will occur in the knee at an earlier period. For this reason, it should not be rushed to operate on meniscus tears that do not create a mechanical obstacle in the knee and do not cause locking and movement restriction.
